Review of Topshop Eyeshadow and swatches

Packaging

Hi everyone, Today I’m going to be reviewing TOPSHOP eyeshadow’s. I have two of their eyeshadow palettes. The Orion Palette is on top and The Smokey Eye Palette in Enigma is on the bottom.

Packaging: Both palettes come in a hard black plastic case. The Orion Palette is quite bulky and in my opinion it’s quite oversized for three eyeshadows. On the other hand the Smokey Eye Palette is slim, sleek and great for travel. The outer packaging has a matte finish and it does get dirty quite easily. Both palettes come with a double ended sponge tip applicator and both have a surprisingly nice mirror.
Open Palettes
Contents: The Orion palette has 3 small round eyeshadows, similar in size to the Costal Scents 88 Colour Palette eyeshadows. The Orion palette has 4 large square eyeshadows, similar in size to the Inglot single eyeshadows.

Eyeshadow Quality: The quality of the eyeshadows is nice but not amazing. They are quite soft to touch but the colour pay off from the lighter shades isn’t great. The darker shades aren’t as true to colour as I would like. I also found that because they weren’t very pigmented, when I tried to do a look with them it was hard to get any contrast or definition. They all just meshed together to create a shimmery brown look, which can be quite pretty but it’s not always what I want.

Palette Layout: There’s one particular thing I don’t like about these palettes, every single eyeshadow has some form of shimmer. They range from Metallic to glittery but I was longing for a matte shadow. It’s very hard to create a finished look with all shimmery eyeshadows. If the black shadow in the Smokey Eye Palette was matte it would make a huge difference!

Price Point: The Enigma palette €15                        The Smokey Eye Palette €16
€5 per eyeshadow                                    €4 per eyeshadow

Overall Recommendation: These palettes are good but not great. They would be a good buy for beginners as they are easy to blend and give a very natural look. If I had to pick one I’d go with The Smokey Eye Palette simply because of the bigger selection.
